The Phoenix Pledge
The Phoenix Pledge is a project aiming to tackle the culture that enables gender-based violence. We do this in 3 main ways:Community Conversations - We host conversations in different communities about gender-based violence with each each community pledging to take action based on these discussions. Communities include schools, universities, youth groups, workplaces, pensioner groups, faith groups, and local communities.Cultural Deconstruction - This involves dissecting and deconstructing the aspects of our culture that might enable violence. We raise awareness of the societal attitudes and cultural outputs that reinforce gender stereotypes or perpetuate harmful practices all while being aware that culture is not a monolith and there is no one 'culture'.Creative Activism - We utilise creative mediums such as music, art, poetry, film, photography, dance, and theatre to challenge, provoke and rewrite the culture. We are all about exploring alternative forms of dialogue and encouraging creative means of expression to ensure all conversations are both inclusive and constructive. If you are a community looking to take part in one of our programmes, get in touch!
